7 days of yoga & adventure

We can’t quite find the words for how excited we are about this one.

We’ve had our eye on this venue for years, and we’re so happy to finally be able to bring you with us.

This is seven days of yoga, exploration and adventure in one of the most beautiful countries in the world.

Your home for a week

This beautiful venue sits right on the edge of Koggala Lake in southwest Sri Lanka, surrounded by jungle and shimmering water.

Every room looks out onto the lake or greenery, and wildlife moves quietly through the space.

You’ll often spot giant butterflies, hornbills, sea eagles, hummingbirds, macaque monkeys and lizards.

The best part? We'll have exclusive use of it all. A slice of paradise just for us.

Where you'll be

The venue feels secluded, but you won't be cut off.

  • 5 minutes by tuk tuk (or 20 minutes on foot): Habaraduwa Beach - perfect for sea swims and long walks

  • 10 minutes: world-famous surf beaches with consistent waves (surfing lesson anyone?)

  • 30 minutes: the historic city of Galle, home to Galle Fort (a UNESCO World Heritage Site), cafés, shops and culture

March is one of the best times to be in Sri Lanka. It falls within the dry season on the southern coast, meaning warm, tropical weather with plenty of sunshine. The days are bright, the evenings are soft, and the sea is at its best.

Where you are

The yoga shala

The yoga shala is purpose-built and nestled up in the trees.

It’s elevated, open-air, and designed without internal pillars, so everyone has space and clear sightlines. Mornings begin with birdsong and soft light filtering through the leaves. Evenings wind down to the sound of crickets as the day cools.

It’s a quiet, focused space that makes it the perfect place to practice.

The Food

All meals are included  - three nourishing meals a day.

The food is vegan and made using as many local and home grown ingredients as possible. It’s a relaxed mix of Sri Lankan flavours and familiar comforts. A lot of what you’ll eat comes straight from the land around the villa. The garden provides spices like turmeric, black pepper, ginger, and galangal, along with vegetables and fruits including wing beans, jackfruit, mango, papaya, and more, depending on the season.

Meals are prepared in an open-plan kitchen at the heart of the venue, so everything feels more like a shared home than a hotel.

Dietary needs and intolerances can easily be accommodated,  just let us know in advance.

The Food

A venue we believe in

Lanka Yoga is run with genuine care. It’s thoughtfully designed, makes considerable effort to minimise negative impacts on the environment, and the staff are treated properly with fair pay, holiday, and support. That mattered to us. We wanted to host this retreat somewhere that feels good to be part of.

FAQ'S

Which airport do I fly into?

You’ll fly into Colombo Bandaranaike International Airport (CMB). There are direct flights from London, as well as one-stop options from other UK airports. The journey from Colombo to the venue takes around 2- 2.5 hours by car.

Can you help with airport transfers?

Yes. We can help organise airport pick-up from Colombo (CMB) and transfers to the venue. Full details and costs will be shared closer to the retreat once flight timings are clearer.

Many guests often arrive on the same or similar flights, so shared transfers are common and work well.

What if I want to arrive earlier or stay on after the retreat?

That’s absolutely fine. Some guests choose to arrive earlier or stay on after the retreat to explore more of Sri Lanka.

If you’re travelling independently, you can simply make your way to the venue for the retreat start date. We’ll share clear arrival details so everything feels straightforward.

Do I need a visa to travel from the UK?

Yes. UK passport holders require a visa to enter Sri Lanka. Most people apply online in advance. Visa requirements can change, so please check the official Sri Lankan government website for the most up-to-date information.

Do I need vaccinations?

Vaccination advice depends on your personal medical history. We recommend speaking with your GP or a UK travel clinic well in advance of travel for personalised guidance.

I’m travelling solo - is that okay?

Very much so. Many guests attend on their own. We'll make sure you have plenty of opportunity to connect as well as space to be by yourself if you prefer.

Can I share a room if I’m travelling solo?

Yes. If you book a twin or triple-share room as a solo traveller, we’ll pair you with another guest(s) of the same gender. We do this thoughtfully, and it usually works very well.

If you’d prefer your own space, there are also single room options available.

What level of yoga is this retreat suitable for?

This retreat is best suited to people with a regular yoga practice who enjoy moving their body and are open to exploring different styles. You don’t need prior experience of Rocket or Mandala Vinyasa,  options and modifications will always be offered.

All sessions are optional, and you’re encouraged to practice in a way that feels right for you.

What’s the weather like in March?

March is one of the best times to visit the south of Sri Lanka. It’s part of the dry season, with warm, tropical weather, plenty of sunshine, and comfortable evenings, ideal for yoga, swimming, beaches, and wildlife experiences.

What about food and dietary requirements?

All meals are vegan and included. Dietary needs and intolerances (including gluten-free or IBS-friendly) can be accommodated, just let us know in advance so we can inform the kitchen team.

What should I pack?

We’ll send a detailed packing list closer to the retreat. In general, think lightweight clothing, swimwear, comfortable yoga clothes, and a light layer for evenings. Yoga mats and props are provided.

How will we stay in touch before the retreat?

We’ll set up a WhatsApp group for everyone attending. This is a space to share travel plans, coordinate flights or transfers if you want to, ask questions, and receive updates from us. It also helps break the ice, especially for solo travellers.

Do I need travel insurance?

Yes. We strongly recommend comprehensive UK travel insurance that covers medical care, emergency evacuation, cancellation, and travel disruption.

What if I need to cancel?

Deposits are non-refundable. Full terms and conditions will be shared with you once you enquire or request to book, so you can read everything carefully before confirming your place.
